Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using WaslZakatDMV (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform.
About WaslZakatDMV
WaslZakatDMV is a faith-based platform that facilitates the distribution of Zakat (Islamic charitable giving) by connecting verified donors with eligible recipients in the Washington DC metropolitan area. We do not collect, hold, or transfer funds. All exchanges of Zakat take place directly between donors and recipients during in-person meetings coordinated through our platform.
Eligibility
To use the Platform, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Reside in or be present in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area.
- Provide accurate, truthful, and complete information.
- For recipients: Meet the eligibility criteria for Zakat assistance under recognized Islamic jurisprudence.
User Responsibilities
By using the Platform, you agree to:
- Provide truthful information in your application or registration.
- Treat all other users with respect, dignity, and Islamic etiquette.
- Coordinate meetings in safe, public locations.
- Not use the Platform for any unlawful purpose, fraud, or harassment.
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- Not attempt to bypass our SMS proxy system to obtain another user's personal phone number.
SMS Coordination Service
Our platform uses SMS messaging to introduce matched donors and recipients and facilitate coordination. By submitting your phone number on our application or registration form, you consent to receive SMS messages from WaslZakatDMV related to your Zakat coordination.
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Standard message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on coordination needs.
No Financial Intermediation
WaslZakatDMV is a coordination platform only. We do not handle, hold, transfer, or take custody of any funds. All Zakat exchanges occur directly between matched parties during their in-person meeting. WaslZakatDMV is not responsible for the actual delivery of funds or the conduct of either party during their meeting.
Verification and Eligibility Decisions
Recipient eligibility is reviewed by our administrators based on the application information and supporting documents provided. We reserve the right to approve, deny, or revoke eligibility at our discretion. Determinations are made in good faith based on Islamic jurisprudence and the information provided by applicants.
Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We make no warranty regarding the conduct of users or the success of any Zakat exchange coordinated through the Platform.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WaslZakatDMV, its operators, volunteers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or any in-person meeting coordinated through the Platform.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms or for any conduct that we deem harmful to the community.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
